The Playlist Template Builder enables you to build a Playlist Template which will generate a playlist based on the parameters you select.
In this example we will build a template that will generate a playlist of Rock and Pop songs that will last for 3 hours. The template will make sure that the items being played have not been played in the last 24 hours and will exclude the less popular Rock and Pop songs, those that have a rating less than 5.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For this example to work you need to have added items/albums to the Rock and Pop categories. If you have not added items to these categories click here for instructions.
Click the icon on the toolbar.
Click the Template Builder... button. This will open the Playlist Template Builder dialog box.
Click the INCLUDE items Set... button and select the Pop category to include the Pop category in the selection.
Click the INCLUDE items Set... button and select the Rock category to include the Rock category in the selection.
Select the number 5 from the Rating drop down menu.
Leave the Similar Item Separation parameters at default, unless you want to change them.
In the Last Play Separation text box type "24" and select hours from the drop down menu.
Leave the Item Generation Priority Weightings parameters at default.
In the Playlist Length input box type "3" and select hours from the drop down menu.
Click on the Build Template button to build your new template.
You can view the template, which you have built, in the Playlist Generation Template area.
At this stage you are best to save your new template. Click the Save As... button.
Type "Rock and Pop" into the File name input box. This will save the Rock and Pop.otm file in the C:\OtsLabs\Templates directory, which is accessible via the Templates shortcut on your Desktop.
You are now ready to generate a playlist based on your new template.
In the Generate Playlist dialog box, make sure that in the Action section the Replace Existing Playlist option is enabled, and in the Options section the Clear History and Auto Play After Generate options are enabled.
Click the Generate... button. OtsAV will generate and begin playing the Rock and Pop playlist template.
Hot Tip: If you would like to use this template again, simply open the Ots Playlist Templates shortcut on your Desktop and double-click the Rock and Pop.otm template file. OtsAV will generate the playlist and begin playing.
