Below is a list of requirements for the Ots Labs CD-DA subsystem.
A CD-ROM that can extract digital audio accurately. If you have a brand name CD-ROM drive, and it was manufactured within the last 3 years, it should work fine with the Ots Labs CD-DA feature. If you are buying a new drive, stick with the name brands, e.g. Panasonic.
A constant linear velocity (CLV) CD-ROM drive can be used, but you may have trouble if you try and play, say track 1 and track 18 at the same time.
A CD-ROM drive that uses constant angular velocity (CAV) technology. The Ots Labs CD-DA functionality will always work much better with a CD-ROM drive that uses CAV technology. If you wish to play tracks from the same CD, at the same time, you are best to use this type of CD-ROM.
If you are using the Windows 9x operating system your computer must have a working ASPI layer installed. Some scanner and printer software overwrites your default ASPI layer with the manufacturer's own which may not be so good for digital audio extraction.
A CD-ROM that adheres to the industry standard MMC command set.
If your drive does not work well with the Ots Labs CD-DA feature, i.e. you get static, pops, clicks, or it doesn't even get that far then you may need to look at upgrading your CD-ROM.
