How to run multiple instances of OtsAV

OtsAV has a command line option that enables you to run multiple instances of OtsAV on one machine. This feature is great for the internet broadcaster who provides multiple streams/channels, or the background music provider who provides multiple channels for a segmented venue.

Note: To run multiple instances of OtsAV you will need to be using Windows 2000/XP/Vista, and you will need to have a multiple OtsAV license. The license quantity will need to equal the number of instances of OtsAV you are running.

The following command option, /instance, will enable an instance of OtsAV. This command line is added to Target field of an OtsAV icon.

Things to consider when configuring multiple instances:

Each instance is best to have its own unique icon, which is used to launch each instance.

For simplicity we recommend that each instance you are running has a separate Media Library. You will need to add the file argument, specifying the location of the Media Library you wish to use, to an icon, e.g. C:\OtsLabs\Data\InstanceOne.oml .

How to configure two independent instances

You will need two icons on your Desktop, one for each instance. To make life easy, you are best to name the icons "InstanceOne" and "InstanceTwo" and label the individual Media Libraries accordingly. For details on creating new OtsAV icon's click here.

For this example, you will need to label your Media Libraries InstanceOne and InstanceTwo.
